How to take care of oily skin during summers

Come summers and your skin will start showing all its tantrums! If you have dry skin, the summer heat will make it feel all the more stretchy and uncomfortable and if you have oily skin, then you might as well walk with blotting paper in your bag! 

If you are someone who has really oily skin, then there are some summer skincare tips that you will want to keep handy, because these will not only help balance the oil in your skin, but also give you that natural glow. 

But before we get into those tips and tricks, you should really invest a little time in understanding what is causing your skin to become so oily during the summers and what are the most common problems it could cause. 

What causes oily skin in summer?

So, what exactly leads to your skin becoming a lot oilier during the summer months? There is no one reason, rather a combination of many and of those, the most common ones include:

  • Increased sebum production – The combination of higher temperatures and increased humidity levels tend to stimulate the sebaceous glands, which leads to an overproduction in sebum, the natural oil present in the skin. 
  • Sweating – Obviously, when the temperatures soar, you tend to sweat more and that sweat, when mixed with the sebum, prepares a playground for bacteria, leading to acne. 
  • UV exposure – Although the UV rays are always around, even on those cloudy days, they are all the more powerful during the summers and they can dehydrate the skin, leading the sebaceous glands to produce more oil, almost like a defence mechanism.
